Fully committed to this approach, IMA FOOD contributes to IMA Group’s sustainability program through research and testing of alternative processes and materials, fostering plastic-free, compostable or biodegradable materials, recyclable and/or more sustainable plastic-based materials.
Within this program, IMA has established IMA OPENLab: a network of laboratories where Material Technologists study, develop and test alternative and more sustainable materials to be used on our packaging equipment.
OPENLab
OPENLab is IMA Group’s network of technological laboratories and testing areas, dedicated to research on sustainable materials, technologies and production optimisation processes. OPENLab analyses most of the new sustainable and innovative materials as new compostable, biodegradable, paper-based or ultra-thin film, before they are commercially available in order to run them on vertical and horizontal packaging lines.
