Highest efficiency in the field of automatic coating equipment

Coating is a process used in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, confectionery, cosmetics and chemical sectors. Coating protects the core, improving aesthetics and taste, and preserving the key properties and active ingredient of the core itself. By spraying a water or solvent-based solution onto a core bed in a rotating pan coater, followed by drying which involves a flow of hot air through the bed, you obtain a solid superficial coating on each core. IMA coating technologies are developed and supported by the Competence Center where our team of engineers and specialists focus on Process Engineering, Equipment Design, Process Control and Process Analytical Technology. This close attention to the coating process has led to several innovative solutions such as the specially conceived mixing baffles or the controlled air-drying techniques that speed up the process and make it more sustainable.

    Pharma

IMA has been developing advanced pharma tablet coating technologies for over 40 years. Both solid wall models and perforated pans feature a high-efficiency mixing system allowing topmost flexibility in terms of workable batches.
Many milestones have been reached by IMA over the decades, starting with the solid wall pan for film and sugar-coating processes. An automated spraying system control was introduced at a later stage. Perforated drum technology ensures high efficiency and optimal air distribution throughout the core bed. Our portfolio includes three kinds of different perforated drums for standard and customised sugar and film-coating processes of tablets, pellets, capsules, etc.
All IMA coating solutions are developed to ensure quality, safety and sustainability. A high level of automation reduces risk of human error, and with little operator intervention as well as strict containment technologies, safety levels are elevated. Process optimisation and heat recovery systems ensure reduced utility consumption for lower environmental impact, and optimised washing recipes use 30% less water than traditional systems.
IMA coaters are GMP-compliant with validated WIP and CIP systems. Fully automatic process control reduces time to market through straightforward scale-up, and the efficiency and flexibility of the IMA coating machine range is suited to all pharmaceutical market needs.
Continuous coating technologies complete the variety of latest-generation solutions, with CROMA breaking new ground and ensuring excellent productivity, alongside other high-performance continuous coating machines.

  2. Coating

    Food

Flexibility is the hallmark of IMA coating equipment for the food market, providing smart solutions to maximise efficiency in sugar-coating and powder-layering processes. Suitable for nonpareils, sprinkles, gums, candies, chocolate cores, jelly beans and dried fruit, IMA coating equipment ensures perfect core mixing and uniform distribution of the syrup as well as controlled air drying for a fast and energy-saving process.
Machines featuring solid and perforated wall execution, plus models with interchangeable drums, are available and implemented according to specific needs.
Usability is given top priority in designing the equipment and tool-free changeovers are possible as well as easy access for maintenance purposes. Moreover, accurate spraying performance leads to minimum syrup dispersion on the drum, making cleaning times shorter.
