IMA acquires Azzurra Technology Platform and launches IMA LIFE Quantum

The operation strengthens the Group’s capabilities in robotic automation for aseptic pharmaceutical processes and accelerates the development of integrated solutions for sterile drug manufacturing.

Bologna, 20 July 2026 – I.M.A. Industria Macchine Automatiche S.p.A. announces the acquisition of Azzurra Technology Platform. Azzurra is an innovative technological platform developed for the robotic automation of fill‑finish processes for sterile pharmaceuticals. The platform will become part of IMA LIFE Quantum, the new unit dedicated to developing advanced technologies for automation, robotics and integrated management of critical processes in pharmaceutical production. The acquisition aligns with IMA’s strategy to further reinforce its positioning in the Pharma sector, expanding its technological and engineering capabilities to support aseptic filling lines, isolators and fully integrated solutions for sterile drug manufacturing.

Integrating Azzurra into IMA LIFE’s technological portfolio will enable IMA LIFE Quantum to develop innovative solutions for a wide range of injectable pharmaceutical applications, including vials, syringes and cartridges. The operation will also accelerate the development of systems increasingly oriented toward advanced robotics, reduced manual intervention and fully automated management of the most complex aseptic processes.

The creation of IMA LIFE Quantum further consolidates IMA’s ability to offer customers complete, technologically advanced solutions aligned with the evolution of the pharmaceutical market and the latest regulatory requirements.
