The FFS technology is a combination of several processes: cups are thermoformed from plastic sheet, filled with product, hermetically sealed with a film or foil and cut into single or multi-packs – all on the same machine. Thermoformed cups are a cost-effective packaging solution and save storage space. They are lightweight but sturdy and offer excellent barrier properties. The cups can be thermoformed with materials such as PET, PLA, PS, and PS multilayer.

Thermoformed cups

IMA supports customers in the design of new packaging.
The suitability of a new cup shape can be easily assessed based on sample cups, and any changes can be discussed directly with the designers.
Development and design of a customized cup shape are simulated in 3D on the screen. Sample cups can be produced in our own development laboratory.

Labelling solutions for thermoformed cups

A label provides crucial information to consumers, creates a unique visual identity for the brand, making it recognizable and helping it stand out in the shelf. Cups can be designed cost-effectively and with a huge variety of different labelling solutions also enabling great freedom in terms of cup geometry.
The label is not only a marketing instrument; it also improves the cups’ sidewall stability – making it more rigid – so the bottom web thickness for the cup can be reduced.
