Paper straw line
High-speed paper straw forming and wrapping line to produce spiral straws in a large variety of materials with utmost quality.
Automatic line
for paper straw production.
The paper straw was an idea created in the 19th century by the American inventor Marvin Stone who converted the habit to use rye grass for sipping a drink into the innovative spiral-wound solution we know today.
While in the sixties, the revolution of plastic material was the beginning of the end for paper straws, today greater awareness about pollution, biodegradability and recyclability is pushing the market to revert to a renewable material like paper.
Regulatory activity is helping promote change as well. On April 2018 the European Commission issued a directive banning all single-use plastic as of 2021.
Current market research estimates the global demand for industrial straws at approximately 400 billion per year.
Based on that, IMA developed an automatic line – from paper strips to corrugated and bent straws wrapped on a ladder band – to match the new market needs.
The goal has been a new-generation design driven by efficiency, accessibility, modularity, flexibility, hygiene, cleanliness and definitely high speed.
